This 5-acre location is 59-years-old, and promotes itself in the community through a television program called Bloomin' With The Bemis'.
"We hang 60 super jumbo hanging baskets in the center of town - these are Bloomin' Baskets. Our perennial area is laid out by use or season or bloom, i.e. Early Spring Bloomin'. Our top picks are Bemis Bloomin' Best, and so on," writes owner Edward Bemis.
Bemis Farms Nursery also has a unique offering in its Successful Gardening - Guaranteed program. "We do not have a time limit on it," Bemis writes. "Our plants and products are guaranteed to perform as they should. A flowering tree should grow and flower for years. Annuals and hanging baskets should provide beauty throughout the growing season. Others in the industry cringe when they see our guarantee. They always ask about abuses. We are in it for the long haul. If our customers are not happy, we will not be successful."
Other unique ideas include creating "crop circles" in the fall mum crop, "as if an alien craft had landed and vacuumed them up to decorate landing pads in a far off galaxy," writes Bemis. "On a more significant scale, we put on a spring flower show display with an abstract Mardi Gras parade marching through it. Instruments with white gloves playing them were suspended over the exhibit. We gave out Mardi Gras beads at the display."
