The focus here is on the garden center as the brand, but the retailer uses provided POP most of the time to promote the plant brands it carries, such as Proven Winners, Jackson & Perkins, David Austin Roses, Endless Summer hydrangeas, Stepables and others.
Owners DeWayne and Tina Lee won the American Nursery & Landscape Association's Retail Rising Star award for 2006, and the year turned out to be a banner one for the company.
Buyers there have a knack for finding products that customers must buy, and this year was no exception with its success in Vera Bradley handbags and the Rainbow sandals line.
But it doesn't stop there. The innovation continues with its Outdoor Living Resale program, which offers landscapers a discount, encouraging them to purchase from DeWayne's and resell it to their customers. "Many landscapers have their customers come out to pick out fountains or concrete accessories to accent landscape designs," explains respondent Marcia Woodall.
