This 4-acre retail operation has found itself more profitable as the years go on because of inventory control and buying strategies. Respondent Chuck Johnson writes the operation has reduced the practice of buying large quantities for extra discounts to limit inventory. He says they try to change the layout of the inside store four times a year to give the customers a fresh look at merchandise.
When buying, his staff takes computers to trade shows to ease in making deals, versus reams of papers.
The 36-year-old operation brings in about $1.5 million a year.
