Bayer Advanced Offers Retailer Scholarships To ANLA Events

Think you can't afford to go to Management Clinic or other ANLA events this year? Bayer Advanced is funding scholarships for retailers to attend.

January 13, 2009

Bayer Advanced will sponsor 40 scholarships to the 2009 ANLA Management Clinic in Louisville, Ky., to help independent retailers offset the costs of attending the event. This year’s Clinic runs Feb. 6-9.

"Bayer Advanced recognizes the challenging business climate, and its potential impact on our independent garden center partners," says Jacqueline Applegate, VP and head of Bayer Advanced. "We also believe in difficult times it is even more critical to prepare your team with innovative products and world-class training to achieve success. Bayer Advanced is proud to partner with the ANLA to help deliver this training.

"It is part of our commitment to the IGC and our promise to be a key link to profitable growth for the channel."

The 2009 Management Clinic effort launches the Bayer Advanced Scholars program, a fund created to offset education and training costs for more than 75 independent garden centers this year, including scholarships to this year’s clinic, as well as ANLA’s Retail Roadshow and the Legislative Conference this summer.

Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on geographic diversity, business size and specific outlook for making the most of business in Spring 2009. Businesses must be primarily a retail garden center to qualify. They do not need to be Bayer customers or current ANLA members to be eligible. A maximum of two scholars from one company may be selected.

Applications will be accepted via eMail to access@anla.org or by fax at 800-284-0233 until 12:01 a.m. EST Tuesday, Jan. 20. Recipients will be notified via eMail Jan. 22.
