Wal-Mart Cancels Stores

Over the last 10 months, Wal-Mart has abandoned 45 proposed stores, and another 19 projects have been shut down by citizens groups, the Huffington Post reports.

Over the last 10 months, Wal-Mart has abandoned 45 proposed stores, and another 19 projects have been shut down by citizens groups. Sprawl-busters, which has tracked Wal-Mart battles for more than 10 years, compiled the list of cancellations.

According to the reports, Wal-Mart was planning on opening a new store in the United States every 26.5 hours 10 months ago. Since then, the company has announced it will open only 170 stores a year over the next three years.
