GCA Officially Announces Summer Tour
See the magic of Orlando, Fla., and learn about the unique challenges facing garden centers in that market.
March 15, 2010
This year’s Garden Centers of America Summer Tour will take place in the Orlando, Fla., area June 27 through 30. Visits include garden centers, botanical gardens, some of Florida’s top nurseries and a behind-the-scenes tour of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
“We are so excited to host the 2010 Summer Tour in the Orlando area,” says Summer Tour Co-Chair Theresa Riley of Rockledge Gardens, which is a stop on the tour. “Because of the warm, year-round climate in Florida, garden centers here face some unique challenges with marketing and merchandising. Attendees will have a great opportunity to gather new ideas for their own garden centers while seeing where 85 percent of the nation’s tropical foliage gets its roots.”
The tour kicks off with a reception at the host hotel, Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort, and a keynote presented by Katy Moss Warner on the beauty garden centers bring to their communities.
During the tour, attendees will see garden centers like Kerby’s Nursery, Earthscapes Garden Room, Rock City Gardens, Busy Bee Nursery, Lukas Nursery and Rockledge Gardens, along with Ron Jon Surf Shop, Kennedy Space Center and Leu Gardens.
On the final night, attendees will be treated to a stop at Disney’s Epcot and a private viewing of the fireworks show, Illuminations.
