Watters Garden Center is more than just a garden center. It's an experience that inspires customers to play in their outdoors, and the slogan says it all: "Where it's fun to decorate your outdoors."

The staff at Watters is trained to make gardening easy for customers, through easy-to-understand language and terms. The buyers are not allowed to buy plants or products unless they are easy to use and in full-bloom or color, making gardening virtually fail-proof for the customers.

In addition, the garden center has purposely reduced the number of choices customers have, making it easier for them to pick the best items. The sales staff is trained to show the largest, showiest plants first and sell down from there. Most of the product is pre-priced by the vendor so the staff can spend less time tagging items and more time selling.

Watters Garden Center is good at getting its name out there, too, with a weekly column in the local newspaper, a weekly radio show, garden classes at a community college and more.
