Garden Shop Nursery, a 37-year-old garden center in Reno, Nev., is in the process of being moved to a new property that features a ranch house dating back to the late 1800s, according to a story in the Reno Gazette-Journal.
The owners, Ed and Jennifer Bath, bought the 3-acre property with the hopes of not just having a garden center, but also a place to offer educational programs, seminars and year-round activities.
According to the story, the ranch house will not be part of the business, but will be available for non-profit groups to use for events. The rest of the existing buildings on the property–a chicken house, a bunkhouse and a large garage–all will be incorporated into the business. The chicken house will house cashier stations and a new greenhouse will connect several of the buildings, along with an overhead shade structure. The couple hopes to have the place fully stocked by September, but is currently carrying bedding plants, vegetables, perennials and some shrubs.
"We find the very best product that is out there," Ed Bath told the newspaper. "We have a long-standing relationship with growers; a number of growers have been with us from the get-go."
