April is National Garden Month, giving garden retailers a prime opportunity to begin promoting the numerous benefits of gardening through educational activities and events.
Through the National Garden Bureau’s and the National Gardening Association’s campaign, consumers are encouraged to partake in garden-related festivities at parks, libraries or garden centers. The local cooperative extension agent and the dedicated Master Gardeners are good resources to begin garden celebrations. Many public and private botanical gardens and arboretums offer educational programs during April.
The National Gardening Association and the New York City Department Of Parks & Recreation will co-host the NYC Grows Garden Festival on Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Union Square Park in Manhattan. The festival is designed to raise awareness for gardening through an educational and fun-filled day of gardening related exhibits and activities.
